Hocking Hills Rock Scrambling + Climbing
Overview
What is the difference between rock scrambling and rock climbing you ask? A rock scramble is a middle ground between hiking and climbing. You use your hands for balance as you’re ascending up the rock face. It’s a non-technical climb that does not require ropes and other equipment. Rock climbing, is more of a technical and adrenaline-pumping ascent up vertical cliff faces that requires safety equipment and a belayer.
Join Explorer Chick as we combine these two favorite events into one! You will get a taste of both climbing styles in one gripping Mini Adventure day trip! All equipment is provided including a harness, helmet, climbing devices, and climbing shoes.
Rock Scrambling and Climbing in the Hocking Hills
It’s only human nature to be drawn to climb to the top of things! From the top of a mountain, a cliff, or even a hill outside your hometown, this is where we gain perspective and can imagine great things! Combining physical strength with mental focus, figuring out moves as you go, and then using your power, flexibility, and agility to conquer dizzying heights.
Rock climbing can be an intimidating sport, but it is also a rewarding form of exercise and adventure when done safely. After spending the first half of our day scrambling through routes, you will then be ready to conquer the natural sandstone rock walls of Hocking Hills. You will receive technical instructions guiding you up the natural rock.
We have more exciting adventures here that can be combined with your climbing and scrambling experience to make the most of your rockin’ trip to Hocking Hills!

*Explorer Chick and its partners reserve the option to modify trip itineraries at the discretion of your tour director as necessary due to weather, conditions, illness, injury, group dynamics, or other unforeseen incidents.
*Tipping your Guides is optional and not included in the price of your adventure. Gratuities may be given to one leader—the team divides tips among themselves after the trip. We recommend 10-20%.
Why aren’t Guide gratuities included in the trip price? Allowing Guides to accept tips is customary in the tour industry and for good reason. Explorer Chicks enjoy the opportunity to recognize their Guides personally for their hard work and keeping them safe.

August 26th, 2021I’ve been having an internal struggle of faith and trust. What a way to gain both! Crossing from one rock to another after a chimney climb took some courage, but mainly trust in Martin…our guide and belayer. The faith came believing the guides I would be safe crawling over, under, or through rocks. Cheers from the gals below was overwhelmingly uplifting too!
