St. Louis Hiking and Cave Rappel
Overview
Get ready for a full day of adventures letting your inner curious Explorer Chick come out to play! This Adventure will have you feeling like a child again as you hike and explore in the woods uncovering some of old Missouri’s hidden secrets along the way. Before long, you’ll be standing on top of the impressive 100′ arch of Green’s Cave. Take in all the spectacular views before free rappelling to the bottom! ✌
Group Hiking
We will start our or day out with a beautiful and challenging 2.4-mile hike through glades, ravines, and hillsides. Catching our gaze along the way will be remnants of old Missouri homesteads erected during the region’s mining era in the 30’s/40’s. One step at a time we will be working on that hiker booty as we climb in elevation about 450 feet. Once we reach the top of Green’s Cave bluff (~ 100’) we will be surrounded by spectacular views of the Meramec River and surrounding farmland. Take in all the breathtaking scenery you just earned before we gear up and free rappel down the impressive cave opening.
100′ Cave Rappel
We worked that hiker booty 🍑 getting to the top, now it’s time for the adrenaline-pumping fun part! 😃The free rappel down the cave bluff! 🧗♀️ You got this! Muster up the courage to take a few steps off the top of the cave to free rappel 100 feet all the way down! Oh, yeah! You’ll be dangling freely in the air as you slowly drop back to the ground. Your guides will be right there giving you guidance and instructions along the way.
Group Picnic Style Lunch
All that pumping adrenaline can leave a gal HUNGRY! We’ll gather together on the gravel bar for our Group Picnic Lunch outside the cave entrance. While submerged in the serenity of our surroundings we hear the laughs of SHE-Nanigans from our fellow Explorer Chicks. Feeling carefree and taking time to play a little longer and frolic in the cool stream of the cave.
Finally, we will hike the remaining 2.5 miles finishing up at Meramec State Park.

*Explorer Chick and its partners reserve the option to modify trip itineraries at the discretion of your tour director as necessary due to weather, conditions, illness, injury, group dynamics, or other unforeseen incidents.
*Tipping your Guide is optional and not included in the price of your adventure. We recommend 10-20%.
Why aren’t gratuities included in the event price? Allowing Guides/Instructors to accept tips is customary in the tour industry and for good reason. Explorer Chicks enjoy the opportunity to recognize their instructors personally.
- There is not a meal provided. Bring your favorite packed lunch.
- Check-in Time: 30 minutes prior.
- Duration: 8-9 Hours depending on group dynamics.
- Women-Only, 21+
- There is a restroom at the visitor center but no restroom at the cave location.
- Please bring environmentally safe toiletries for all bathroom needs. Guides will have limited quantities with them as well.
Waiver
- Your Order Confirmation will include a link to the Explorer Chick Smart Waiver. Please take a minute to sign online.
- Please also take a moment to print and sign the required waiver for Vertical Voyages attached to your order confirmation email.
