Baja Out to Sea Adventure Cruise
Overview
Read HERE for info on 2023 Dates.
Play with fish the size of a Volkswagen bus by day, sleep in a bunk anchored in the Sea of Cortez by night – yes, this is real life on your women’s adventure cruise tour in Baja, Mexico!
Learn to Surf in Todos Santos
But first learn how to surf off the shores of Todos Santos. Then satiate that ravenous surf babe appetite in town with a lunch at one of our favorite spots. But, not before we acquaint ourselves to Mexico properly with a Mezcal tasting. You’ll have time after lunch to wander the village experiencing first hand why it’s one of Mexico’s pueblos mágicos.
Cruise the Sea of Cortez and Isla Espíritu Santo National Park
By afternoon, we’re boarding our privately chartered boat and settling into our cozy home at sea for the next 6 days and 5 nights. At the end of each night, you’ll fall asleep to the silence and tranquility anchored in a bay under a star filled sky.
Your time at sea will be jam-packed with excitement as you explore Isla Espíritu Santo National Park. By kayak? Yep. By hiking boot? Yep. By swimming? Yep.
We don’t call this an adventure cruise for nothing! Sorry, no shuffleboard or shows this trip. (We couldn’t figure out how to fit them on the boat anyway.)
Discover Scuba and Free Dive Certification
With its playful creatures and beautiful water, Baja, Mexico is a multisport-lovers paradise! You’ll learn to breathe under water with a Discover Scuba Diving. After one session learning about the equipment and practicing in shallow water, our onboard dive instructors guide you up to 40 feet below the water’s surface to scout out the show below. Already a certified Scuba Diver? Fantastic! We literally have you covered with a wetsuit and scuba gear you can borrow!
But wait, there’s more! You’ll leave behind the equipment learning the technique to dive naturally and become a Level 1 Certified Free Diver. You’ll never guess how many breathing exercises are involved in holding your breath!
Snorkel with Sea Lions on Isla Islotes
Did you think we were done listing your Baja cruise activities? Ha! You’re cute. Just when you think you’ve seen all the marine life of Baja, we drop you into waters off Isla Islotes with snorkeling gear and a wet suit. Your mission? Float on the surface breathing steadily as playful juvenile sea lions nibble at your flippers or swim around you in curious circles. Yes, you should order that underwater camera.
Swim with Whale Sharks in La Paz
Cross “become besties with a whale shark” off your list. It’s the day you’ve been waiting for. Have you been training your whole life for this? Climb right back into your wet suit as you set off into the bay off La Paz keeping your eyes peeled for Whale Sharks. As you cruise, don’t be surprised if you also peep some friendly dolphins.
As soon as your guide spots the Whale Sharks, you’ll follow the safety and conservation guidelines and climb into the water. Holy Smokes. This guy’s mouth is the length of me. That tail could slap me to the high heavens. I can’t believe this is my life right now. These whale sharks are majestic AF. Just a few of the thoughts that might run through your mind.
Camp and Hike in the Sierra de Laguna
Once we’re good and pruny, we’ll leave behind our floating home to clamber back on land. Your last night will be spent camping at Huertas Los Mangos in Santiago – which is fully equipped with all of your basic camping needs including a turnt up Margarita happy hour around the campfire. Dinner is served up by a local family who will teach you how to press your own tortillas. You won’t be the first who turns out some sad looking pieces of dough.
In the morning, it’s down a dirt road for us to explore the natural pools in the Sierra de Laguna. (Yup, more water. Mermaid life forever). Jump from cliffs. Emerge from holes in the rivers. Maybe even hang out in a hot spring.
“To all of our crazy, facing-our-fears, jumping in the deep end (literally) adventures together! The most unforgettable trip with some amazing women.” Explorer Chick Emily #MyBold #RealWomenRealAdventures

After lunch in Todos Santos, we drive to La Paz to board our privately chartered boat. You’ll be able to pick up any alcohol or last minute necessities at the nearby gas station. The selection is very limited, so pick up any specialty items in Cabo. (Think Gas Station Alcohol selection. Your best bet is to grab booze in Cabo especially if you prefer wine and/or liquor).
The following 5 nights and 6 days will be spent cruising the Sea of Cortez. During this time you’ll snorkel with playful sea lions, explore beaches, swim with whale sharks, enjoy a Discover Scuba Class, earn your AIDA 1 Freediver certification, and hike desert trails. Each night, we will anchor down in a bay providing calmer waters and protection. We are far from city lights, so enjoy those stars!
If you are a certified diver, there will be time for you to dive. Depending on certified diver preferences and conditions, there are options for reef or wreck dives.
Life on the boat is fairly laid back. Activities are planned based on weather, sea conditions, and group dynamics.
Between adventures, there will be plenty of time to relax and simply enjoy the sun and the sea. Sun bathe, read a book, swim, or borrow a kayak. All equipment on board is available for you to play and explore! This is truly your home away from home!
In the afternoon of Day 6, you’ll leave the boat and transfer to Santiago for a night of camping. Our rustic camp set under mango trees is equipped with tents, sleeping bags, a self-composting toilet, open air kitchen, solar power, and showers. You’ll be treated to a margarita happy hour, a home cooked authentic Mexican dinner, an opportunity to make tortillas, and a campfire before settling in for the night.
The next morning (Day 7 and our final day), you’ll enjoy breakfast in the morning and then hiking, bouldering, and swimming in the Sierra de Laguna. Afterwards, we will return to our Rendezvous Hotel in Cabo.

February 20th, 2019I just want to take a second to shout from the rooftops about my Baja boat family. These women bonded instantly through surf, freediving, and SCUBA lessons; heartfelt conversations held on the bow of a boat, on the beach, in kayaks, and in hot springs after dark; trying new foods (like the triggerfish ceviche Emily caught with a plastic bottle, monofilament line, and hamburger!); and in sharing the most unforgettable journey together. My life is richer for having spent time with them, and it just shows the pure power of Explorer Chick Adventure Co. trips.

February 27th, 2019I just got back from Baja, and it was perfection, I literally wouldn’t change a thing, staying on a boat that felt like home, being around women that felt like family, it was truly amazing. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.
