Whether you’re going south to hit Zion and Bryce Canyon, hiking and exploring around Moab, or doing a tour of the entire outdoor playground state, Utah is a great place to visit in October. It’s not as hot as the 100+°F summer days, but it’s still warm enough to rock a tank top.

Smoky Mountains
This is where you’ll really get to experience fall foliage to the max. With cooler temperatures ideal for hiking, camping, and whiskey tasting, the Smoky Mountains is definitely a favorite October spot. The colors start changing around early October, but really get going mid and late October to get those vibrant oranges, yellows, and reds.

Jordan

If that’s what you’re after, Jordan is a prime October tour option. It’s warm, but not scalding and has more adventure opportunities than you can shake a stick at.
With camel rides, towering canyons, desert stars, and the UNESCO World Heritages site, Petra, Jordan is an amazing place to explore in late September and October.
