Who the Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack Is For

Unless you need your compression dry bag for an especially wet environment, we can recommend this Seas to Summit product for just about every fun-filled adventure. It is lightweight and does such a fabulous job at keeping things safe and secure while adventuring outdoors.

Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack Key Features

The Sea to Summit’s team are well known within the hiking and camping community to manufacture high-quality gear, their Compression Dry Sack being no different. Alongside the build quality and extra attention to detail you come to expect from Sea to Summit’s products, the Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack comes with a ton of great features.

Waterproof Fabric

While out enjoying the backcountry, there’s possibly nothing worse than hiking into a remote area, making camp, and realizing your sleeping bag or clothing has fallen victim to dampness or water. Thankfully, with the Sea To Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack, you can rest assured your sleeping bag and other essential gear will be kept warm and dry.

This is thanks to the Sea to Summit Event Compression Dry Sack’s sturdy 70D nylon eVent® waterproof fabric that is used within the sack’s body and the 40 denier nylon with eVent laminate that makes up the base.

Lightweight Design

In addition to its waterproofing qualities, the eVent® waterproof fabric has also been manufactured to be lightweight. The tightly woven waterproof fabric is reasonably durable and features an air permeable base. It also sports special venting that allows air to escape to make stuffing easier while simultaneously ensuring water won’t seep into your stuff sack through the tightly-closed buckle.

Compression Straps

Very few compression sacks are also easy to compress, but this one compacts down to about a third of its original size with little effort. This is thanks to 4 straps that evenly compresses the sack down to a very manageable size. Couple the compression straps with the sack’s air permeable base and saving space in your backpack really couldn’t get any easier.

Pull Handle

Another really nice addition this Summit compression sack features is an ergonomic handle that is mounted on the sack’s eVent fabric base. This pull handle makes carrying, attaching, and general handling very easy and convenient.

Added Extras

The Sea to Summit Event Compression Dry Sack also comes with a ton of added extras, including:

  • Its seams and high use areas like the base, lid, and handle have all been reinforced with double-stitching for added durability, weatherproofing, and maximum protection.
  • Extra layers of 10000mm hydrostatic head fabric add protection and limit leaks.
  • Just in case the worst happens, included is a 15mm field repair buckle with stainless steel pins for quick and easy replacement.

Warranty Info

Although the Sea to Summit warranty does not cover product damage they deem has occurred due to “improper use or care, accident, or negligence”, if a product you have purchased from Sea to Summit is deemed to have an issue because of workmanship or materials, the company will offer a repair, replacement, or credit.

FAQs

Can You Submerge a Dry Bag?

Sure, dry bags can be submerged. But even though they are often equipped with waterproof seams and waterproof fabric, it isn’t recommended they be held underwater for more than a few seconds at a time. This is simply because they aren’t designed for this purpose. Instead, dry sacks are meant to keep your belongings dry in case they are inadvertently exposed to dampness or if an accident occurs.

Is It Ok to Machine Wash a Dry Sack or Dry Bag?

Dry sacks and dry bags shouldn’t be washed in a washing machine. Washing machines, particularly top loaders, are notoriously hard on a lot of camping and hiking gear. With that in mind, it’s better to spray down your dry bag with dishwashing soap and give it a good scrub with a dishwashing sponge. Once clean, the dry sack can be air dried just like any other item of clothing.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for an excellent compression sack that can stand up to damp environments, then there’s no reason you shouldn’t consider the Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack.

It looks almost exactly like what you might expect from a regular stuff sack but has the added advantage of water-proof qualities. It weighs very little compared to some of the other choices on the market and it offers a superb level of space-saving convenience. In addition, the compression venting system allows air to escape when it’s being compressed, all the while keeping your essentials and accessories nice and dry.

After extensive testing and backcountry camping, trekking, and hiking, we know and trust the Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack for its lightweight design, ease of compression, and convenient compression straps.
