Recap: West Virginia Winter Adventure – Part 1
11 Explorer Chicks were blessed by Ullr with 12 inches of freshly fallen snow on the first day of our West Virginia Winter Adventure in Davis WV! Over 4 days we were treated to bluebird skies, first tracks, and the best beers the local breweries had to offer as we worked hard and played hard on the snow-covered slopes and trails. Explorer Chicks traversed snow-covered trails to Lindy Point on cross country skis, strapped on snowshoes to hike 4308 feet up to Bald Knob, downed craft beers and burritos the size of a small child, danced like no one was watching at a local bluegrass bar (everyone was watching), and pretended they were kids again as they careened downhill on the longest and fasted sled run on the East Coast! There were countless inside jokes (“hot tub book club”, “sister wives”, the “eff it” rule, our mascot Dave), heartfelt conversations next to the roaring fire, and big hugs as we all left with new best friends.
